Happy Hallowinter!

Halloween is quite possibly my favorite holiday: Tasty treats everywhere you look. Legitimate excuses to play dress up in public. Spook-induced adrenaline rushes. Permission to geek out over crazy crafting. You get the picture…

But, much to my own shock, I haven’t really been feeling it this year. Maybe longer hours at work sapped my craftiness. Maybe last weekend’s flu smothered my last gasps of quality costume prep time. Maybe it was my inability to settle on a truly amazing idea. But, when that freak snowstorm blew in Saturday morning, my dreams of Halloween 2011 glory were officially crushed.

I left myself only one costume choice: to be a lazy bum for Halloween, complete with sweats, slippers, pizza & wine, a hot man and two episodes of Dexter. Yes — It was a tough costume to pull off, and not one that could be done with a full-on painted face. And, you know what? Skipping the freezing, slush covered, alcohol infused hullabaloo felt kind of ok this year…

So, with that said, Happy Hallowinter everyone! I skipped the spookies this year and am proptly moving onto the winter holidays (yes, I even did a little holiday shopping this weekend — now that will make life a little prettier in about a month!) And, for my beloved costume fans out there, I owe you one; Next year, its on. In the meantime, here’s a glimpse of Halloweens passed…

…only 365 more days until the next one!
